トラブル発生！（ダニーデン空港）

 

旅もようやく後半戦。クイーンズタウンからミドルマーチを抜けてダニーデンにやって来て、満足のいくニュージーランドを満喫したあとは帰国の途に。ということで、今日は帰国に向けてシドニーまでの移動日です。

 

予定は早朝チェックアウト⇒ダニーデン空港⇒ニュージーランド航空でクライストチャーチへ移動⇒3時間の乗り継ぎを待ち⇒カンタス航空でシドニーへ⇒シドニー宿泊

 

という予定でした・・・・・

 

が、しかし！

 

ガ、が、がビーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーン

 

順調にきた旅にトラブル発生です！

緊急事態！！！

 

そ・れ・は

朝ホテルをチェックアウトした時点で不穏な空気があったのですが、目茶目茶霧が濃い。

タクシーで空港まで走る中、視界は10メートルぐらいか？！

うーーーん、経験上これは思った「飛ばないな」と。

 

で、空港に着いてみると、ま普通にお客さんは居るしカウンターにもスタッフがいますよね。

で、チェックインしようとニュージーランド航空のカウンターに行くと

「No ！」

何時飛ぶかも分からないし、そもそも今日飛ぶかどうかも全くわからないという返事。

少ない英語で質問質問質問。

でも、「分からない」の返答のみ。

 

で、日本語を話せるスタッフをと頼んだところ「そんなものは居ない！」と超冷遇。

これでニュージーランド航空が一気に嫌いになりました。

海外では、自分の仕事は自分の仕事。人の仕事は関係ない。

なーーーんてわかってるけど、あまりにも冷徹だったな。

まるで、サービス精神なんてものとは程遠い。

 

実はこのＮＺ航空でクライストチャーチに行く飛行機に乗らないと、シドニーまでのカンタスの国際線に物理的に乗れないのです。ということは、翌朝早くにシドニーから出発する日本行きのＪＡＬにも物理的に乗れないということを意味します。

 

これは非常ーーーに困りました。

で、まずオシリから調整でＪＡＬに電話をしたところ一日後ろに変更することはＯＫです。但し、エコノミー席しか用意できないということです。元々は、ビジネスクラスを取ってあるのでこれもまた困ったものですが、帰国できないと仕事に影響がでるし、で一応元の予約はそのままで、翌日便をキープしておいてもらいました。こういう点、ＪＧＣだと融通が利くのでやっぱＪＡＬは好きですね。

 

で、次にクイーンズタウン⇒シドニーのカンタス航空なのですが、これまた厄介。

というのは、1名はカンタスで直接予約、もう1名はＪＡＬの無料航空券で予約。

ＪＡＬ経由はＪＡＬさんが無償で軽く変更ＯＫとの返事。

でも、直接予約分は扱えない、ということで直接カンタスに電話。

これまた、電話での英語って結構普通の会話より難しいんですよねー

でも、カンタスさんは訛りも少ない英語で、しかも日本語話せるひとはいないですか？

と尋ねると「居ないけど、探してみるのでちょっと待ってみて」といわれて5分くらい待つと、日本人が出てくれました。この時点で、カンタスさんに大きく軍配。

 

で、事情を話したところ翌日への便の変更約１３０ドルの追加でＯＫということだったのでお願いしました。決済がカードということで、口頭での決済センターへ回され四苦八苦して決済完了。

ふー、これで一応一日ずれた場合の帰国は確保されました。

 

さて、でもなんとか予定どうり帰国したいよねー

てことで、ジャジャジャーン！スマホの登場です！！！

僅か片手サイズの小さな機器が、この田舎で活躍するのです。

それは・・・すべてのフライトを調べてシドニーへ当日中に辿り着く方法が無いかを調べました。

時は予定より3時間経過で、当初のカンタス便にはもう間に合わない時間になっています。

で、遅い回線で調べること1時間。

見つけました！

ＬＣＣの「Viegin Austraria」です！

数時間後にダニーデンを出発する便で、メルボルン経由で乗り換え深夜にシドニーに着くパタンを発見したのです。ラッキー！

あたりの景色は少し霧が晴れてきて、そろそろ飛びそうな予感です。

で、即効でＷＥＢでチェック、何と残席３。

うーん、時間との勝負。

普段のデスクワークで活かした指先を使い（笑）、ＷＥＢで決済完了！

金額はＬＣＣなのに二人で13万円（涙）

 

先ほどの、カンタスの１３０ドルの追加と併せて結構な出費になりました。

そして、無事にバージンオーストラリアに搭乗できました。

トラブルを抜けて・・・

自分の旅行スタイルはいつもツアーではなく、自分でパーツを組み合わせていく旅。それは、すべての行程が自己責任であることを意味します。これがまた旅の醍醐味で、このようなトラブルもいい思い出になるものです。トラブルを経験すると人は一つ賢くなります、また幅も大きくなります。

今回の旅で実感したことは、やっぱりＪＡＬは日本人にとっては安心感が非常に高いということ、これは自分がＪＧＣ会員であるからではなく、日本人のおもてなしの精神からくるものであると感じます。そして、カンタス航空においても困ったお客様のお手伝いをしようという精神が会社のどこかに感じられたこと。そして、ニュージーランド航空は欧米方式の縦割り＆サービス精神のなさ（もしかしたら、こちらが日本人だからかもしれません、白豪主義）。そして、何においてもお金を使えば選択肢は増えるということ。そして、知識は最大の武器である（今回のケースでは武器＝語学力）ということ。自分は、片言トラベルレベル英語なので、このような難しい意思の疎通や、例えばビジネスレベルなどではまったく通用しません。前にヨーロッパに行った時なんてもっとこまりましたので（それはまた、ヨーロッパ編ブログを書きます）ま、それも楽しいけどね。自分はお客様相手のビジネスをしている会社の社長。今回の件で、人の気持ちがさらによくわかりました。困っている時にこそ手を差し伸べてあげることが大切ですね。

 

 

 

 



Restaurant at Duniden

There was no recomended restaurant, it was.
So,,We are walk around.

It is being crowded with the local person and a somewhat stylish restaurant just for a moment
A place is in the side opposite to the road which performed the Knocks church of George Street north about 60 meters straight.
A name is "Lone Star."

When it was called ? and Lone Star, did you dance by there being the steak store of the surely same name as Guam or somewhere, music's starting every time, and Mr. Staff standing in a line?
There was what [ no ] says here so.

The way of the seafood was substantial although there was also a steak.
its hungry is good -- since it swarmed, it has said with the steak.
Although the taste is featureless especially, aren't they  and the passing mark?

ダニーデンでの美味しいレストラン

 

なかなか目ぼしいレストランがない中で、ありました。地元の人で賑わっていてちょっと小洒落たレストランが。場所はジョージストリートのノックスチャーチを真っ直ぐ北に６０メートルほど行った道路の反対側にあります。名前は「ローンスター」です。ん？、ローンスターって言うと、確かグアムかどこかに同じ名前のステーキ屋さんがあって、時間おきに音楽がかかって、スタッフさんが並んでダンスをしてくれたっけ。ここは、そういうのは無かったです。ステーキもありましたが、シーフードのほうが充実していました。自分たちはガッツリいきたかったのでステーキでいっちゃいました。お味は特段特徴はないですが、ま、合格点かな。

First City Tours (ファーストシティツアーズ)

 


ダニーデンのお勧め観光スポットを１時間半ほどでサクッと回ってくれる便利なバス、これがこのファーストシティーツアーズです。

このバスツアーですが、日本で言う「ハトバス」のようなものです。テープで案内が流れながら、市内各所を回ってくれます。２階席からですと特に景色がよく見えて、短時間で街の概要を知るにはもってこいの乗り物ですね。

←この写真左側はダニーデンの高台地区で歴史的にこの街をベースにビジネスで成功した人たちの邸宅が点在する高級住宅地区だそうです。

この日は前日の雨のおかげで、空気が大変澄んでいて気持ちのいい日でした。

市内観光バス

 

さて、部屋に戻って休憩して充電したところでお次は、ダニーデンの市内観光といきましょう。ダニーデンでは中１日しか無いというタイトスケジュールなので市内をサクッと回れる市内観光バスを使ってみました。

 

これはFirst City Tours（ファーストシティーツアーズ）というもので、２階建てバスで市内を１時間半ほどでぐるりと回ってくれるというものです、途中数箇所立ち寄りスポットがあって写真なんかも撮ることができます。確か一人２０数ドルぐらいで安いものです。

 

オクタゴンから出発しますので、出発場所で待っていますとこのカッコイイ２階建てバスがやってきますのでチケットを運転手さんに見せればOK。席は自由席、早いもの勝ちです。

なので、自分たちは２階の一番前を陣取りました。昔、香港でこの場所に座ったときに、酔いましたので乗り物に弱い方は１階席がお勧めです。

 

出発までの１０分間、やはり運転手さんが、遠慮なしに超早口の英語で「どこから来たんだい？」とか「ダニーデンはどうだい？」とかガンガンに話しかけてきます。なんともフランクなお国柄ですねー

Tour comment

The factory tour meeting of the only purpose "CADURRY  WORLD" in Dunedin was completed by saying.

工場見学会が終わりました

 

ふー、、、と、いうことでダニーデンでの唯一の目的「キャドワーリーワールド」の工場見学会が終了しました。このツアーでは一切の撮影が禁止されていますので、残念ですが上の写真を見てご想像ください。

 

まず、ツアーの時間がくると案内役のオネエさんが奥の扉から現れます。そこで、超早口のネイティブ英語で説明が始まります。５分ほど説明を聞いたらさてツアーの始まりです！まずは、ロッカーの前に連れて行かれまして、全ての荷物、身につけている貴金属などをぜーーーんぶ外してロッカーに入れます。そして、オネエさんと同じ薄い素材で出来た帽子をかぶります（全員例外なくです）髪の毛をその中に丸め込んで（コレ、結構きっちりチェックされます）、そして上の景品を入れるビニール袋をもらってから、建物の中へ入っていきます。

 

今回は約２５人でのツアーでした。国籍は様々で、中国、タイ、フランス、そして自分たち日本人という構成でした。ちなみに、終始超早口のネイティブ英語ですので、正味、自分にはほぼ解読不明でした。いつも少しは分かるのですが、これには参りました。大体１０％くらいしか分からなかったです。コレ、ツアーの面白み半減ですね。なぜなら、ツアーの最中、ところどころで立ち止まって説明があるのですが、クイズ形式が大半で、うまく応えると上の景品がもらえるのです・・・

しかも、ときどき学校みたいに当てられます。なので、シャイな方は遠い位置で下を向いていてください（笑）。でないとバンバン質問されます。自分たちも当然ながら質問がきましたが・・・・・？？となれば、ツアーのお客さんが陽気に助けてくれました☆

 

この国では、どこの国の人だから、話せないのでは？とかいった区分けや遠慮は全くもってありません。話せることが普通です。ま、それでもそれなりに楽しめますので遠慮せずに参加してくださいね。

 

見学ではダダーッとチョコレートが流れ出てくる風景や、製造途中のチョコレートの液体の試食や、チャーリーとチョコレート工場でおなじみのチョコレートの滝などがあってとても楽しい経験が可能です。建物の中は、オレンジやナッツのフレイバーがプンプン匂っていてワクワクしますね。

 

ツアーが終了するとロッカーへ行きますが、その前で撮影スポットがありますので写真の撮りたい方はそちらでどうぞ。

 

そして入口まで戻ると、世界共通「お土産広場」の登場です。ここでは色々なキャドバリーチョコレートが格安で購入することができます。沢山あって目がクラクラしますが、価格は半値くらいの感覚です。品揃えから推測すると、おそらく超ド真ん中の売れ筋ラインが無いように見えましたので、ファクトリーアウトレットだと思います。みなさんはそれほど買ってなかったですが、何せ日本人。お土産文化の国です。ここぞ！といわんばかりに大量にチョコレートを購入しました。少し大きいリュックにパンパンにチョコレートを買いました。コレがまた重い（汗）スタッフの方も笑っていました。

格言：チョコレートはチョう、重い。

 

このお土産売り場はツアー不参加でも入れますので、近くに来た人は１度寄るのもいいですね。

あまりにも重いので、帰りはオクタゴンから市バスで帰りました。

 

 

市バスを降りて５０メートルでホテルに到着ですので坂道も楽々です。この正面奥がブルーストーンオンジョージです。古くて生活観のあるようなな街では、ちょっと瀟洒な洋館のような外観です。

 

 

街は古いですが、正面にはオタゴ大学があり、そして少し離れるとオタゴ半島。そして教会。坂があり、雰囲気と歴史のある文学生の街といった雰囲気です。

これがBlueStoneHotel前のジョージストリートです。これはオクタゴンから反対側を見て撮った写真です。オクタゴンまではずっと下り坂になっています。

キャドバリーワールドです

 

これがキャドバリーワールドのエントランスです。キャドバリーワールドは撮影が一切禁止されていまして、このエントランスだけが撮影可能となっています。エントランスはキャドバリーランドという名のミニミニ博物館となっていまして、時間待ちをしている間、子供たちが退屈しないように、またチョコレートの歴史がわかるように工夫をされています。キャドバリーワールドファクトリーツアーの工場内部の写真はまずそういう理由でないのです・・・

さてさて、本日は朝から雨ですが、そんなことお構いなしです。ホテルからオクタゴンまでサクッとバスに乗りまして、そこからは徒歩約５分くらいで少し人通りの少ない工場地のようなあたりに、このキャドバリー社のダニーデン工場はあります。

 

１ブロックほどまるまる敷地ですので相当な広さです。歩いていくと、前方正面に寂しい通りに一際目を引くパープルのテントが目に入ってきます！そうです、これがわざわざダニーデンまで来た唯一の目的の地です。

 

キャドバリーチョコレート社の工場はこのダニーデン以外に、ＧＢ（イギリス）にもあるのですが、実際に工場の中に入って楽しめるファクトリーツアーを催行しているのは、ここニュージーランドだけなんですねー。

 

も・ち・ろ・ん、コレだけの為に来ましたので、念には念をということで１ヶ月前にツアーの予約をwebから入れてあります。

 

さー、チャーリーのチョコレート工場（訂、キャドバリーチョコレート工場）の中身はどんなファンタジーな世界が待ち受けているのでしょうか？

 

ＴＩＰＳ・・・ここに来る前には絶対に観てから来て下さいね、チャーリーとチョコレート工場の映画。

ふむふむ。毎日やってるんだ。自分たちはモチロン朝９時からスタートです

ダニーデンのバスの乗り方

 

昨日は長い移動の一日で疲れていたので、ぐっすりと眠れました。さて、今日はダニーデンでの最大の目的である「キャドバリーワールド　ファクトリーツアー」に行く日です。

 

今朝、目覚めると景色はご覧の通り雨です。でも、霧雨に曇るダニーデンも、なかなか雰囲気があっていいものでした。今回の旅では幸い、見事な風景がメインのクイーンズタウンでは、全く雨が降ることなく過ごせました。で、ダニーデンではしっとりとした町並みを経験させてもらいました。

 

このブログ、完成するまで毎日少しずつアップしてるんですが、アクセス履歴を見ると何故か日本の方が少ないですね。アメリカとロシアからのアクセスが圧倒的ですね。

 

そりゃーそうかな？日本人でニュージーランドって言うと、オークランドとかクライストチャーチとかそっちがメジャーですし、クイーンズタウンへ行く日本人も少数派でツアーに組まれている感じかな？

 

クイーンズタウンでは結局日本人は１組だけちらっと見ました、で、ダニーデンでは終始日本人は０人でした。多分、住んでいる方とかも居るんでしょうが、ほとんど日本は見なかったです。寿司ぐらいです（笑）

 

 

ジョージストリートを真っ直ぐ徒歩で下って行くと、こんな感じでSHOPが立ち並びます。中心部まではゆっくり歩いて約１５分。下り坂なのでとても楽チンです。

 

ここで少々、バス情報です

 

ここダニーデンでは、昔の首都らしく、バス路線が非常に充実しています。基本的には徒歩+バスのみで市内はOK。

郊外のオタゴ半島やラーナック城などのエリアに行くにはレンタカーか現地ツアーが便利です。市内はオクタゴンを中心に道路が形成されているので、すべてのバスが停留所を兼ねているオクタゴンに停車します。

観光客は大体が、ジョージストリート近辺にいろんなものが点在していますのでそれほど難しくはありません。

以下に市バスのサイトを載せておきます。自身が無い方は赤色のラインの「St Clair to Normanby via Octagon」線だけを使えば、乗り間違えようがありませんので大丈夫です。

バス停は中心部は200メートルごと程度に、バス停がありますので上の写真の黄色のラインが引いてあるところがバス停ですので、ここで待っていれば次々とバスがやってきます。料金は先払いですが、改定されるでしょうからサイトで確認してください。

A rental car or local tour is convenient to go to area, such as a Otago peninsula in the suburbs, and Larnach Castle.

Since the road is formed focusing on the octagon, all the buses stop in the city at the octagon which serves as the stop.
Since it is dotted with what have most various near George Street, a tourist is not so difficult.

If only the "St Clair to Normanby via Octagon" line of a red line is used, although the direction without self will make a mistake in riding, since there is, it is OK.

さて、今日の晩御飯は・・・　ん？ほとんどのお店が閉店してるじゃないですかっ！

これでは食いっぱぐれる！・・・餓死を防ぐために、今日の晩御飯は、惣菜を買って部屋で食べることにしました。

世界的には結構スタンダードですが、案外日本人には縁のないフィッシュアンドチップスです。このブログをご覧いただく方は、もうご存知でしょうが、何てことない普通のポテトと白身魚のフライです。海外ではデイリーな食べ物ですねー。でも、結構魚の油がギトギトしていました。ちょっと薄味なので、濃い味がお好きなかたは、塩など振りかけて持ち帰りください、です。

ノックスチャーチ

 

ダニーデンの街で目印となるのが、このノックスチャーチです。自分たちが宿泊したホテルからは徒歩５分くらいの距離にあります。

Bluestone on george hotelはその名のとおりジョージストリート沿いにありますので大変分かりやすいです。ホテルからノックスチャーチを超えて、真っ直ぐ１５分ほど坂を下って歩いていくと１５分ほどで街の中心部、オクタゴンに到着します。

 

この、ノックスチャーチを過ぎたあたりからオクタゴンにかけて、ずーーーっとSHOPが並び始めます。今回、この教会には入りませんでしたが、昼間に訪れるかたはクリスチャンでなくとも、ぜひ１度入って心を静めてみてはいかがでしょうか？

何年か前に、ニースのシャガール美術館に行った事がありますが、教会の前に来ると、シャガールの世界観が想い浮かびました。

ダニーデンのホテル

はいっ。ではでは、ダニーデンでのお宿の紹介です。ダニーデンではブルーストーンオンジョージ「BLUESTONE ON GEORGE」にお宿を取りました。ダニーデン駅からここまでタクシーで１０分ほどです（チップを少し多めにね）

ダニーデンの街を一言で現すと、「昔栄えたバジェットな学生たちが沢山居る大きな街」という表現になります。自分たちは５０歳前なのでそこそこ小奇麗で、お洒落系でいてちょこっとお安いホテルなんかがベストマッチだったりするんですが、そういうホテルがこの街にはほとんどありません。

もしかしたら、郊外にはシェラトンとかヒルトンとかがあるのかも知れませんが、短い滞在ですので移動時間の少ない市内が前提。それで、出発前にいろいろ探したのですが、なかなか無くって　BOOKING.COM さんで評価の高いホテルに決めました。

上の写真が入り口ですが、まるでモーテルのようですね・・・
でも、左側に入っていくと入り口があって、見かけはちょっとお洒落な屋敷のような佇まいです。古めかしいドミトリーのような宿が沢山ある中で、このホテルの評価が高いのが理解できました。でも、決して豪華ホテルとかそういう類ではございませんのでご注意ください。

いわゆる、コンドミニアムに近いです。１週間ぐらい滞在するには楽しいかもしれません。住んでいる感覚の味わえるホテルです。小さな受付とロビーは清潔でそこそこ快適です、フロントはもしかしたらご夫婦でされているのかもしれません。気のいい感じの方たちでしたし、人種に対する変な感じ方も全くありませんでした。この宿は英語のみで日本語表記とかある感じではまったくないです。

最初に説明があるのですが、フロント業務は午前０時まで、あとは鍵で自由に出入りを、そして１Ｆにジムがあるので自由に使ってくださいねー、で、飲み水はそこのあるから自由にくんでね。という具合ですね。部屋はどちらかと言うと狭いですね（これは「プレミアエリートスタジオ」っていう部屋です）。でも不自由はないし清潔です。

そうそう、コレで温まりましょうね。パワーあります

 

部屋には小さーーーなベランダが取り付けてあって、目の前はこんな感じです。正面にオタゴ大学があります。ダニーデンは坂の街ですし、自然がそれなりにあるので雰囲気のある街です。

ついに到着しました！ダニーデン駅です。この駅は歴史的建造物で、大変お洒落な駅舎です。駅舎と言えば、最近東京駅も改築されましたが、同じような感じ？かな？様式はわからないですが、ゴシック？ベルエポック？素人ですので、よくは解りませんが、かっこいい駅です。駅といいましても人でごった返すという雰囲気はまったくありません。ここで注意ですが　タクシー←基本的に日本のようにスタンバっていませんので特に気をつけてください。事前に電話番号をＧＥＴしておくか、送迎を頼んでおくなりしておかないと、ちょっと駅で困ると思います。ちなみに、タイエリ鉄道に乗ってきた場合は、駅舎の中に案内所兼、タイエリ鉄道センターみたいなのがありまして、タイエリのお客さんはここで頼めば、タクシーを呼んでもらうことができます。

正面を出ると右側に、今回ダニーデンの目的であるチャーリーとチョコレート工場（←訂。キャドバリーワールド）の建物の一部が見えますね。ちょっとワクワクしますね。

出発して１時間も走ると、のどかなニュージーランドの風景が出てきます

 

次第に市街地に入っていきます

 

ついにダニーデン駅に到着しました！思えばクイーンズタウンからはるばるほぼ丸１日をかけての移動の旅は長かったです。でもとても楽しかったですよ。ツアーじゃない自由旅行の方はぜひ、この移動パターンオススメです。カバンはまとめて一箇所に降ろされるので、勝手に自分の荷物を持っていってくださいね。

さて、警笛とともにタイエリ鉄道はダニーデンに向かって出発です。

 

 

途中はこんな感じの風景です。渓谷に沿って造られた線路をゆっくりゆっくり下っていきます。このような景色がタイエリ鉄道の醍醐味ですね。ただ・・・大変申し訳ないのですが、渓谷鉄道は多分、日本のほうがかなりレベルが高いと思いました。何せ日本は四季が織りなす風景が素晴らしい国ですので、もっと深い鉄道がいろいろありますね。でも、、、海外の古い鉄道もなかなかオツなものですのでぜひ１度オタメシあれ。

案外、このような風景は短くて最初の３０分ほどです。あとは次第に牧場が出てきたりと、いつものニュージーランドの風景に次第に変わっていきます。タイエリ鉄道を使うのであれば、提案あんおですが、クイーンズタウンから行くのではなく、ダニーデンから出発してクイーンズタウンに至るルートのほうがタイエリ鉄道の感動という点ではいいかもしれません。

 

途中の停車（駅？）のHINDONです。ここでは５分くらいの停車です。降りて写真を撮ることが可能です。出発時には警笛がなります、またその前に車掌さんが列車の外を歩いて積み残しがないかを確認してくれますので比較的安心です。
